Joanne Graham is an accredited hypnotherapist and Strategic Psychotherapy practitioner with extensive experience supporting people to change patterns that keep them stuck. She works with anxiety, panic attacks, stress, burnout, anger, emotional eating, weight loss, sleep issues and phobias by focusing on how these problems are structured and what maintains them.


Joanne’s approach is practical, collaborative and results focused. Using Strategic Psychotherapy, she helps clients understand and change the patterns driving their thoughts, emotions and behaviours. Hypnotherapy is used to support nervous system regulation and reinforce new responses so change can be maintained in everyday life.


Based in Mount Annan, Joanne supports clients across the Macarthur region and works with clients Australia wide through online sessions.

How is Strategic Psychotherapy different from traditional talk therapy?
Strategic Psychotherapy focuses on how a problem is maintained in the present, not only why it began in the past. It aims to identify the patterns that keep an issue repeating and change those patterns directly.


This approach is practical, goal focused, and often more direct than open ended therapy.

Will I be in control during hypnosis?
Yes. You remain aware, present, and in control throughout the session. You can speak, move, and stop the process at any time.


Nothing is done without your consent, and sessions are paced according to what feels safe and appropriate for you.

How many sessions do I need?
Most people need more than one session to create lasting change. While everyone is different, many clients work with me for an average of around 7 sessions, depending on the patterns involved and the goals we are focusing on.


Some people notice early shifts sooner, and others choose additional sessions for deeper support. We review progress as we go and tailor the plan to what you need.


What does hypnosis feel like?
Hypnosis feels different for everyone, but most people describe it as a calm, focused state similar to deep relaxation or meditation. You are not unconscious and you do not lose control. You remain aware of what is happening and can speak or move at any time, while your mind becomes more receptive to focused therapeutic work.


Will I remember everything after a session?
Most people do. You remain aware throughout the session and can usually remember what was discussed and experienced. Some people feel very relaxed and may forget small parts, similar to drifting in and out of a daydream, but you are never “out of it” or unaware of what is happening.
