You know what you should do. You have known for a while. So why is it still not shifting.
Most people who find their way to this page have already done a lot of work on themselves. They have read the books, tried the apps, seen a counsellor, or pushed through on willpower alone. Some of it helped for a while. None of it quite stuck. If that sounds familiar, you are not missing something obvious. The patterns that drive anxiety, emotional eating, poor sleep and stress responses are not stored in the part of the mind that responds to logic and good intentions. That is why understanding a problem does not always change it.
About Joanne Graham
Joanne Graham is an accredited clinical hypnotherapist and Strategic Psychotherapist based at Macarthur Complete Health in Mount Annan, NSW. She works with people experiencing anxiety, stress, emotional eating, weight concerns, sleep difficulties, phobias and other repeating patterns that have not responded to more conventional approaches.
Her work focuses on identifying and changing the underlying patterns that drive unwanted thoughts, emotions and behaviours, rather than managing symptoms or working through the past. Strategic Psychotherapy provides the clinical framework. Hypnotherapy supports the deeper, experiential side of change, helping new responses become more automatic over time.
Sessions are practical, collaborative and structured around your specific patterns and goals.
Jo’s Story
For a long time, Joanne experienced exactly the kind of patterns she now works with professionally. Emotional eating, ongoing weight concerns and burnout were a consistent part of her life, and none of the standard advice made a lasting difference. She became a Personal Trainer hoping that a deeper understanding of the physical side of health would help. It gave her useful knowledge, but it did not reach what was actually driving the patterns.
That gap led her to the mind and the way subconscious patterns shape habits, stress responses and behaviour. She completed a government-accredited Diploma in Clinical Hypnosis and Strategic Psychotherapy and, through that process, began to understand why change that feels forced rarely holds, and what has to happen for it to become sustainable.
That understanding now informs every aspect of how she works. It is not a methodology she learned and applied from a distance. It is something she has tested, lived and continues to build on.
How Joanne Works with Clients
Strategic Psychotherapy as the Foundation
Rather than exploring the origins of a problem at length, Strategic Psychotherapy focuses on the patterns that are keeping it in place right now. Sessions are structured, goal-directed and designed to produce change that is practical rather than theoretical. The question is not why you developed a particular response, but what is maintaining it and what needs to shift.
Hypnotherapy for Deeper Change
Hypnotherapy is integrated to support the experiential side of the work. It is not a separate modality used in isolation. It creates the conditions for change to be absorbed at a level below conscious effort, so that new responses begin to feel more natural rather than forced.
Sessions Built Around You
There are no generic scripts and no standard protocol applied to everyone with the same presenting concern. Each session is built around your specific patterns, your particular challenges and what is most likely to create meaningful progress for you. The work is responsive to how you are presenting and what is emerging across the course of your sessions.
A Space That Feels Safe to Be Honest
The focus in sessions is on understanding what your patterns are trying to achieve, not on judging them. People often arrive having blamed themselves for a long time for not being able to change. That framing is usually part of what is keeping things stuck. Sessions are conducted without pressure, without blame and without the expectation that you should already know how to do this.

Book a Free Discovery Call
Choosing a therapist is not a small decision. The Discovery Call exists to make it a more informed one.
It is a free 20-minute conversation where you can ask questions, describe what you have been experiencing and get a clear sense of whether this approach is a good fit for what you are dealing with. It is separate from your sessions, carries no obligation and does not commit you to anything. If it does not feel right, you can simply leave it there.
